General Information

Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Our goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit company Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities. SoftwareFreedomDay 2008

SFD 2008 will be September 20 from 1pm until 4pm. WPLUG team page.

Hello Everyone:

Software Freedom Day 2008 is officially tomorrow, Saturday September 20th. WPLUG will have a booth setup near Schenley Plaza on the corner of Forbes and Schenley Ave in Oakland. The event is scheduled to run from 1pm to 3pm. I invite all WPLUG participants to join us for this celebration. We still need volunteers to help hand out CDs and talk with the public about free software. Everyone is also invited to simply stop by for a few minutes to say hi and show your support for WPLUG.

Thanks and hope to see you there,

Dave Kraus
