Meeting Start

The meeting was called to order at 8:41 p.m. Chair Pat Barron, Vice Chair/Secretary Justin Smith, and Director-at-Large Joe Prostko were present. Treasurer Terry Golightly was absent.

Report of Officers

Pat reports that Treasurer Terry Golightly has declined nomination for the WPLUG Board of Directors in 2014.

Justin informed the board that WPLUG's Twitter account has hit 40 followers; WPLUG now has > 1 LTC at its disposal as a result of cryptocurrency mining on its VPS.

Director-at-Large Joe Reports that O'Reilly got back to his inquiry about their user group program, and WPLUG is, in fact, a member. We just need to ask them for review copies of their books; they won't send books out automatically. Joe informed Justin that if he isn't receiving emails from O'Reilly, he should send O'Reilly an email to request secretary@wplug.org being put on the list.

New Business

A "Meet the Candidates" IRC session will be held on Tuesday, October 29th from 7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The moderator will be settled after the candidates have been settled.

The board discussed general ideas about how to vary WPLUG's schedule, including holding social get-togethers on weeknights. Pat said that it's possible WPLUG could have use of the IBM Squirrel Hill facility. (Members have asked for events to be located closer to the heart of Pittsburgh.) Decisions were deferred to later.

Regarding the online payment forms, Pat and Joe created a form that can, in fact, process payments from Stripe, but not much else. It's a proof-of-concept work. Stripe was chosen over Coinbase because its API is easier to use.

The board voted unanimously approved to purchase the LesPaul WordPress theme from ThemeForest for $45.

Justin talked about the CalPress WordPress calendar extension. A paid version, which would allow other people to manually add events to CalPress, is available: [1]

Meeting End

The meeting was adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
