The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users Group was held on Friday, October 1, 2010, at 8:00 PM, at the Panera Bread Galleria in Mt. Lebanon, the regular presiding officer being in the chair and the Secretary being present.  The minutes of the August 27, 2010 meeting were approved as read.

The Treasurer reported that he still needed to purchase the Thinkgeek gift certificate for the Member of the Year award.

The Program Committee reported that Robert Blackwell and Mark Dalrymple are both available to speak at the November 13 election meeting.  Other future speakers available are David Ostroske to speak about Python on October 23 and Yaakov Nemoy to speak on using Emacs as a daily planner in December.

It was moved and seconded to cancel the membership business meeting originally scheduled for October 9, 2010.  After discussion, the motion was adopted.  It was noted that the membership nominations meeting of September 18, 2010 had been adjourned to October 16, 2010.  As other events were scheduled for that date and likely to harm attendance, the plan is to briefly convene this meeting on October 16 and adjourn it to October 23, 2010.

It was moved and seconded to authorize the Treasurer to spend $75 on the venue and refreshments for the November 13, 2010 election meeting.  The motion was adopted.
