The regular monthly meeting of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users Group was held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 3:19 PM at HackPittsburgh, the regular presiding officer being in the chair and the Secretary being present. The minutes of the November 15, 2014 meeting were approved as read. |

The Chair reported that he would work with the Vice-Chair on promotional arrangements with book publisher O'Reilly. |

The Vice-Chair reported that he was successful in negotiating with HackPittsburgh for meeting space. He also plans to work on coding for a self-service membership portal. |

The Secretary reported that WPLUG has 14 members, three of whom joined today. |

The Treasurer reported that WPLUG has $367.06 in the checking account. Recent expenses were $8.94 to Linode for the server and $65.00 to pairNIC to renew the wplug.org domain name for five years. There is $60.00 in cash on hand from dues yet to be deposited. |

John Lewis moved that he be reimbursed $7.80 for purchase of beverages for this meeting. During discussion, it was noted that a refreshment fund already exists and is authorized to reimburse this type of expense, though it has fallen out of use in recent times. The Treasurer stated that he would bring the refreshment funds along for future meetings and estimated it contains $40. No action was taken on the motion. |

A discussion was started on methods of payment accepted for WPLUG dues. It was noted that PayPal can be tied to an organizational e-mail address, but it may not allow organizations with only a P.O. box rather than a street address. Another option mentioned was Popmoney, which can be used with PNC accounts and perhaps other local banks. |
