Meeting Minutes

The business meeting was called to order at 2:03 PM with all board members but the Vice Chair present at the start of the meeting.

Reports of Officers

The Chair reported that he would like to propose that at an upcoming GUM there should be a movie at Pittsburgh Filmmakers, at either the main location or else the Regent Square theater. There needs to be some discussions about right of clearance for showing films there however. The film should be independent or Creative Commons, preferably, and the Treasurer suggested something like Code Rush or Revolution OS would eb a good idea. The Chair also mentioned that Pittsburgh Filmmakers will be teaching Blender in the future, which is likely the direct result of the WPLUG event held this year at Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Lastly, the Chair mentioned that the decision has been made to migrate wplug.org to CentOS 7, still being hosted with Linode. There is still some work to do, before doing that, but the migration should happen before the end of August.

The Vice Chair arrived and had nothing to report.

The Treasurer reports that there is $233.51 in the bank currently. There is also 20 dollars in undeposited dues not reflected in that number. With respect to upcoming expenses, 10 dollars a month for a month or two are needed for the upcoming server migration. Charles Butler mentioned that he will donate the 10 dollars for one month's worth of server fees. The current annual hosting plan with Linode is done at end of August. Charles mentioned that WPLUG should seriously look at DigitalOcean as an alternative to Linode. The Treasurer also mentioned that the upcoming WPLUG picnic is not going to draw from treasury for anything other than shelter cost. The Treasurer and the Vice Chair said they would donate to help with picnic costs. To further help with this, it may be a good idea to hold a joint picnic with SNAPGH.

The Secretary reported that currently there's 15 members. In light of this discussion, the online membership portal was brought up. Charles Butler mentioned it would be great to use Stripe on the wplug.org site and that he would help. There was also some talk about alternative cyber-currencies being accepted as well.

The Director-at-Large has nothing to report.

New Business

There isn't anything to discuss, but at the upcoming board meeting on Tuesday, there will be some discussion if Linode should be the host for the wplug.org VPS, or if some place like DigitalOcean would be a better fit.

The meeting concluded at 2:20 PM.
