The meeting was called to order at 7:36 PM. Chair Pat Barron, Vice Chair/Secretary Justin Smith, Treasurer Terry Golightly, and Director-at-Large Joe Prostko were all in attendance.

The reading of the previous meeting's minutes was dispensed.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

Pat reports being largely unable to participate in WPLUG for the past 3 weeks due to personal matters. He did, however, ask the branch manager of Carnegie Library Brookline if WPLUG would be allowed to meet there (for free), and she had no objections. Pat will make the same inquiry at CLP's Squirrel Hill branch. The only meaningful correspondence Pat received in the WPLUG P.O. box was a bank statement.

Justin resolved several issues with the WPLUG mailing lists over the past few weeks. Pat and Justin will take a more active role in monitoring the lists to prevent further problems. Justin asked Android developed Ezekeel Johnson if he'd be willing to speak at a WPLUG GUM via Google+ hangout, but he declined, citing personal reasons and timezone differences. Justin will continue to solicit participation from Android community.

Treasurer Terry Golightly reports that WPLUG's finances are largely unchanged. The bank account's balance currently is $699.81. There are three new transactions: one $40 deposit, a $30 check, and a $45 check. Both checks were made out to the Wilkins School Community Center, WPLUG's current meeting location.

Director-at-Large Joe Prostko contacted Paradise Island Bowling to assist with planning a bowling night. Their rates $26 an hour per lane, including shoes; 6 people per lane. League bowling is typically held between 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. As long as we RSVP, there shouldn't be problems.

NEW BUSINESS

The board tried unsuccessfully to create a Dwolla account for WPLUG. Since Dwolla requires account holders to have a physical address, WPLUG cannot accept payments using Dwolla at this time. Pat will open a Stripe account.

Justin demonstrated several WordPress themes that could be used as part of a new Web site for WPLUG.org:

The board will review these themes and explore similar pre-designed themes for Joomla and Concrete5.

WPLUG needs more members who have the time and inclination to contribute. The board feels strongly that WPLUG should advertise at colleges, perhaps as part of a partnership with faculty members.

Due to time constraints, the board was unable to finalize plans for social events in the coming months. It will resolve this at a future meeting over IRC.

Pat is reading a book about "open government." The board is interested in replacing WPLUG's cumbersome rules with a new, much simpler system that isn't so restrictive and does more to shield the group from legal liabilities.

END

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
