The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users Group was held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at 7:33 PM, at the IBM offices in Squirrel Hill, the regular presiding officer being in the chair and the Secretary being present. All members of the board were present, with Joe Prostko attending via telephone. The minutes of the December 16, 2014 meeting were approved as distributed.
The Chair reported that that he has been working on developing a membership portal with Pat Barron, John Lewis, and Charles Butler. A repository has been established on Github and requirements are being developed. He has not yet visited the bank to obtain signature authority on the account.
The Vice-Chair reported that he has produced a database schema for the membership portal and will be creating a Github account soon so he can collaborate on the project. He reported that he will be at a HackPittsburgh event tomorrow and will try to arrange for WPLUG GUMs to be held there in March and April.
The Secretary reported that WPLUG has 13 members. One member whose term expires within 90 days has been sent a reminder to renew.
The Treasurer reported that there is $367.06 in the WPLUG bank account. He also has $60.00 in dues on hand yet to be deposited. He stated that the refreshment fund contains approximately $40, and that since there seems to be an interest in having refreshments at WPLUG events he will start bringing it along.
Potential speakers for upcoming meetings were discussed. Stan Slomberg agreed to contact Klaatu (via Justin Smith) for a presentation on use of free and open source software in film production, and to contact Nick Schembri for a presentation on Proxmox virtualization/containers.
John Lewis noted that the February 21 General User Meeting has been scheduled at HackPittsburgh. It was moved to hold the next two General User Meetings at HackPittsburgh on March 14 and April 11. The motion was adopted.
The meeting adjourned at 7:51 PM.
